Print ordering with Prodigi

Plan a print-on-demand offer without confusing Patsy's subscription, payment processing, production cost, shipping, taxes, and photographer markup.

What is actually availableThe Founding test-mode journey includes products, a client cart, Stripe Connect test checkout, idempotent paid test orders, and Prodigi sandbox fulfillment on Essential and Studio. The photographer completes Stripe Connect hosted onboarding. Production credentials and real charging wait for the separate live go-live.

What you should take away

  • Stripe remains in test mode and Prodigi remains in sandbox in the Founding release.
  • Payment processing, production, shipping, taxes, refunds, and chargebacks remain distinct responsibilities.
  • The photographer chooses products and prices, then tests the complete order path before a live go-live.
  • The photographer remains responsible for the client relationship even when a fulfillment partner produces the item.

Build a sellable product set

Begin with a small tested collection

Choose a limited set of sizes and products that suit the work. Order samples before offering them to clients so color, cropping, packaging, and perceived quality are known.

Separate every cost

Store each variant's Prodigi cost, retail price, currency, and fulfillment details separately. Patsy's subscription includes the sandbox integration and test fulfillment path, not payment processing, production, shipping, taxes, refunds, or chargebacks.

Set markup deliberately

Price from the complete delivered cost, the photographer's service responsibility, and the value to the client. Do not calculate profit from production cost alone.

Test before accepting client orders

Run a complete sandbox order

Complete Stripe Connect test onboarding, publish a product, use a Stripe test card, and verify that one paid order is submitted once to Prodigi sandbox. Confirm product, recipient, print file, shipping selection, callback updates, failure visibility, and idempotent retry.

Publish a clear support policy

Explain damage, defects, incorrect addresses, color expectations, and who the client contacts. The fulfillment partner does not replace the studio's responsibility to communicate clearly.

Keep the live boundary explicit

Test-mode checkout does not charge a real card, and Prodigi sandbox does not produce a physical item. Production credentials, live payment, taxes, refund operations, and support readiness are a separate go-live decision.
